“Maybe
Tomorrow” by Stereophonics — Heard playing during the reunion scene for Chloe/Clark at The Torch.
“White Flag” by Dido — Played at the very end of the episode when Clark
goes to visit Lana and explain to her that he doesn’t want to hurt her anymore and that even though he wants to be with her, they could never really be. She tries to convince him otherwise, but he tries to protect her by pushing her away. Lana doesn’t understand why.
Clark: Looks like the old man’s been working out!
Jonathan: Jor-El and I have an understanding. I’m taking you home.
Clark: I don’t care what he’s done to you. You’re not taking me anywhere.
Clark: Whatever Jor-El did to him must’ve been too much for his body to
handle.
Martha: Jor-El?
Jonathan: The important thing is that Clark is back home with us now.
Lex: [to Lionel] Abraham threw Isaac on the pyre to prove his faith to
God… what was your excuse?
Lex: Disappointed I’m not basking in the fires of hell?
Lana: [to Clark] I keep telling myself that it wasn’t you, but then I
think back on all the things that have happened and I realize that I don’t know
who you really are.
Clark: I missed you every second. But I can’t keep doing this to you.
Lana: Then don’t.
Clark: Lana, I’m not sure if I’m even gonna stay.
Lex: Home sweet home.
Helen: Lex… Oh, thank God.
Lex: Trust me, I’ve done that already. He seems to be the only one on my
side lately.
Chloe: Kinda far from your new ‘hood, aren’t you, Clark?
Clark: I just came to say thank you.
Chloe: Oh, it’s one of those days, because I can never tell with you,
whether you’re gonna walk in and it’s gonna be an apology or an accusation.
Clark: Chloe, I gave you absolutely no reason to stand by me. But you knew where I was all summer and didn’t tell anyone.
Chloe: Yeah, well, that’s what friends do for each other, Clark.
Clark: Aw, man! Aw, Lex, we thought you died.
Lex: Well, apparently fate has bigger plans for me.
Lana: You want to cut the pretenses? Fine. You lied to me about Clark.
Chloe: Something we have in common then.
Lana: Clark’s always been more comfortable talking to you.
Chloe: It’s because he’s not in love with me.
Lex: [to Helen] Yes, you do. You and I understand each other because
we’re similar creatures. We’ve both done our share of maneuvering. In a twisted
way, I guess that’s why we’re perfect for each other.
Morgan: If I didn’t know any better, I’d think the blood was liquid gold.
I can’t imagine what the real source would be worth to you.
Lionel: Unfortunately the source is a mystery to me. My contact turned out to be, uh, let’s say uncooperative.
Lex: I’m afraid I’ve been delusional a lot longer than three months. But I think I have a pretty clear picture of things now.
Lionel: [to Lex] That was a Machiavellian maneuver worthy of a Luthor.
Lionel: You know, Lex, I, uh, never imagined that you would fall in love with Helen. I’m sorry it happened, son, but don’t be too hard on yourself.
Lex: [to Lionel] If I was anybody else’s son I would have died on that
island. All the tests you put me through… made me a survivor.
Lex: No. I’ve learned to trust my instincts.
Lex: After the plane went down, I made my way into one of the broken
wings. [Lex holds up the antique compass he had with him on the island] This
compass, your wedding present, guided me to safe harbor. The least I can do is
help you keep your farm.
Lana: It’d probably be a good idea if we put a lot of things behind us.
Clark: I was just thinking that too.
Lana: You weren’t yourself.
Clark: Yes, I was. Lana, I chose to let that part of me out, and it’s
always gonna be there. Trust me, you don’t want to know me the way you think you
do.
Lana: Clark, that’s my decision to make.
Clark: Lana, I’m sorry. I wanted this so much. All last year I tried so
hard to be the right guy for you… But I’m not. This’ll never work.
[beat]
Lana: Clark, you never had to try.

Quote of the Week:
Jonathan: [to Lex] We will find a way to pay you back.
Lex: I’m not worried about that, Mr. Kent. If it’s not too
presumptuous, I hope you’ll just consider me part of the family.
