“Eternal” review
by Lucy
At the beginning, if it wasn’t because of Tess, we could believe that we are seeing the pilot, seriously. But, it’s a good blast from the past. And the way the Davis’ scenes fits with the original ones is pretty good. But, the liquid from Davis’ “cocoon” is gross. An advice, don’t eat while you’re seeing it.
Super Tess is always a step ahead from the others, one way or another, she always know the things the others don’t.
The disappearances are happening for a while and no one mention about it but now, suddenly, Clark is interested . Very convenient because Tess already knows about Davis, sometimes I think she’s psych or something, maybe she sell her soul to Lex. But Tess remains me to Lana with her need to know about Clark. Enough with the secrets and lies, if he doesn’t want to tell you then leave it. What’s the problem with the Smallville girls? Seriously!
Now Chloe, she’s spending all the time with Davis, the good thing is that she loves her husband, right? The she calls him, she writes him a e-mail after what she did to Jimmy, and I’m not jut talking about the Davis’ thing, everything she did to him… If I were Jimmy, I’d never married her. Not get me wrong, not for her, it’s because she never really trust in him or never made him feel like he was really important to her.
I’m on Jimmy’s side in this, I can’t believe that Chloe really expected he forgiven her so easily like the other times, it’s kind of selfish her attitude. And, like always (yes, like always), she’s trying to make all that another person’s fault saying that always was something about her and Jimmy, Yes, Chloe, the something was YOU!
But when she said to Clark about call… well, Chloe, you go to the farm like it’s your house and no one tells you anything.
Then Davis, burying the bodies on the same place like a crappy horror movie and the crucifix thing… I have no words to describe the creepiness of that scene.
Go, Tess, Go! Always a step ahead. Come on, I love Tess and everything but please, it’s too much. I know she’s intelligent but… seriously? Please, Mercy, give us your recipe. Intelligent, beautiful and Bomb master.
Then, we back with Chloe attacking all she can because her life sucks while Clark tries to ignore the big pink elephant in the room. She’s making herself innocent of been with Davis. Flashnews, Chloe, a married woman don’t spent all her time with a guy who leave more than clear that he loves her. It’s NOT good, It’s NOT normal and people can judge if they want to. And, of course, she’s the victim just to justify her lack of ethic and fidelity.
But when she compares Clark to Davis, is unnecessary and low, even for her.
A more creepy thing is Tess having roasted Davis on the mansion. But I love the “I was trying to kill you”, that was fantastic. Honestly, one of this season highlights from Tess.
Davis, the innocent, I’m getting tired of that. It’s a lot “I’m paramedic, I’m good”, more when the girl knows it already. Death Note much? “I just kill criminals”. And, well, we all know how Light ended up. The question is: Chloe will end up like Misa?
Come on, wasn’t just criminals, the Isis’ girl and the Chimmy wedding doesn’t come to your minds? And who’s Davis Bloome to decide who lives and who dies?
I love how the writers tries to make the actual storyline, the mythos and the last seasons fit thinking that maybe, just maybe, the fans already forget the real story of the last seasons. Like if Lionel Luthor had all the free time to made a graphic novel. Luthor Corp anyone?
Besides, how in hell the Kents didn’t see the Lionel’s men coming for Davis? Leave that, how in hell Lionel known about Traveler so soon and when he arrived? Maybe he had the same power than Tess.
The kid who plays Mini Davis, is just adorable. Breaks your heart his story but then you remember he’s a killer and… well… whatever.
But the best was the Lex and Davis scenes, even though, why our favorite bald never mentioned? Right! Because the writers get it out from the hat.
The Lex/Warrior angel thing is cute and remains me a fan made trailer I saw on youtube the other day. You guys should watch it, it’s pretty good (and Lexana! YAY!).
What Lionel did to Davis is cruel and we all know how ended up. What goes around, comes around.
Tess, a step ahead from the others, I start to asking me how she do that. Seriously, Tess, give us your recipe.
A hole in time would be what Lionel did to Davis and never mentioned about it after all Traveler thing and “I’m on your side, Clark” thing. And, well, how he doesn’t notice that was two travelers if he kidnapping one and the other was with the Kents? The writers should take care more of their storylines. Because this about Davis’ tests was normal is just stupid.
Another crappy thing is that he buried the bodies on the same field he arrived, is a pretty sick souvenir. Wait a moment, Davis doesn’t put the bodies in the trash? At least on bride he did that.
The way Mini Lex and Mini Davis played was innocent and cute, nothing like their present ones. And the legend Lex told Davis was the same he told to Clark, is like his tagline or something. But, well, Clark and Lex doesn’t had swords.
Why until now we know about the kryptonite and Davis and on Bride not when he’s Doomsday? A lot of holes.
Honestly, I really liked the chemistry between Davis and Tess, it’s a shame we don’t had more scenes. But It’s a real shame that we had a thousands Chlavis scenes and don’t let the character of Davis explore more with another characters.
The Judas/Christ reference was interesting but wrong, Judas won’t be Davis, Judas will be Chloe. Maybe Tess is not a step ahead after all. Though she always ends up knock out against the table outside the study. If I was her, I totally take it away a while ago.
Chloe and Clark, instead of go somewhere private to discuss about Davis, They go to the Planet and scream at each other. At the end, Jimmy was right. Oh, Chloe… I can’t say more because the boss censured me.
Of course, Clark always doubt of Tess. But, Clarkie, you’re right. Tess is a manipulate woman, she just want to be the best Luthor, though she doesn’t be even a Luthor.
Tess always put her hand on the another characters’ diaries, if I was Chloe and Lana, I should be very careful.
It’s offensive that Clark denial his secret in front of Tess if she already knows. She is annoying but not stupid, Clark.
Though she had a point, the Luthors get it wrong and fight against each other for the “Nemesis” title. Now is funny remember all they did when it wasn’t even for them. The Kawatche people mention was pretty cool, I love all the Mythos, even when they put it wrong.
The lovers fight between Chloe and Davis made me feel like I’m not watching a action series, I’m watching a freaking soap opera!
I know the scene of Davis’ death suppose to be sad and makes us all cry and whatever. But, seriously, Allison Mack’s faces was priceless, was so funny. I don’t saying she’s bad actress because she’s not but she’s seriously should take some drama classes, she doesn’t know how cry without makes us laugh.
And, of course, Clark arrives and blame himself saying it was his fault and they should be brothers or Clark could be found by the Luthors (YAY! Fanfiction, anyone? I’d be more than happy to read it. Seriously, all couples, I don’t discriminate. I read everything is well write but if it is Chlavis, Clois and Lexana, you‘ll get me from hello).
Chloe denial kill Davis but, when she saw Clark in danger, she decided for her friendship with Clark killing Davis.
The scenes where Lionel’s man leave Davis is cruel. I was sure I’d cry if wasn’t for Doomsday.
The last scene between Clark and Chloe is emotive, I really like their friendship. I like they always been for each other and everything. But the magic get kill when Chloe reproach Clark don’t had the guts to kill when Chloe herself told Lana on “Wrath” that she doesn’t let her kill for Clark. I didn’t see Lana kill someone but Chloe killed Sebastian Kane on “Identity“, for crying out loud! Seriously? We have to notice that “Wrath” and “Eternal” was written by Brian Peterson & Kelly Souders so, obviously, has something under the water.
Now, when I say Chloe is Judas I have a fundament. No way Davis could be the betrayer, he doesn’t be a Clark’s friend, he doesn’t even be a person grata to Clark but Chloe is, she’s capable to kill, she’s capable to cheat and lie. Was for something she doesn’t be remember on “Legion”. She’s in love with Davis, she’s will do anything for him, that’s why she’ll betray Clark.
Between Clark and Tess is boring, one in denial and the other push it. I like their chemistry but no this way. What’s the deal with Clark’s girls? Come on! One is toxic to him, other betrays him, other says she’s not special enough and the other begs him for his secret. If I were Clark, I totally choose Shelby, besides, he asked Shelby to marry him already on “Promise”, right?
At the end, we clearly saw how Tess not only is a step ahead, she always ends up with more rocks of all colors, shapes, and flavors.
The final scene left a bad taste, a lot of thoughts and no one of them is positive. Chloe betrays Clark staying with the monster how has the power to kill her best friend but she decided stay with him anyway. And she still married, what’s her problem?
The good
The flashbacks, the way they try to make everything fit and Mini Lex is gold. But the best is the kid who plays Mini Davis, his faces are everything.
The not that good
The holes in the story. Tess, always step ahead of everyone, is annoying and irritate. And the way she keeps pushing Clark to tell his secret is completely wrong. Her scenes with Clark are long and heavy. Not even Cassidy, how is a hell of an actress, could save that.
I give a score of 3/5, it’s interesting, is great see old faces even if are video archive. The flashbacks are good but Tess/Clark interaction is boring and Chloe’s character lost her essence, her ethics and herself and everyone else respect.
